I’ve been traveling since December, just before New Years 2021, with the intention to recreate as much of a magical 2020 as I could. Last year, there were a number of great rallies scheduled for people who have the same type of RV as I do. It was my goal to be at them all. In the attempt, I visited twenty five states and traveled about 22,000 miles. I started in January, and by the time everyone was sitting up in March and actually taking notice of Covid, I’d attended the first three rallies; Quartzsite, AZ, in January, Paso Robles, CA in February, and Tallahassee, FL in March. Everything came to a shuddering halt in March. Thereafter, all the rallies were canceled. Continue reading

Friendship
After a very active day at the RV Rally in Quartzsite, I got back to my campsite. The people I’ve been with had a campfire going. Everyone was relaxed, there were several conversations going at the same time, and everyone was having a very nice time. Michael Soloway, a fellow New Jerseyian, came over with his accordion. He has a job playing music at an upcoming International Film Festival in New York, and he was practicing on us. Everyone should be so fortunate to have him practice on them. Continue reading
North Rim of the Grand Canon, Cape Royal
I woke up tired this morning, which is never a good thing. I’m not sure if it was the five mile hike at altitude, or the altitude, or staying up late with excellent companions, or being too cold and not being smart enough to realize it during the night, or all of the preceding, but I was tired. The hot showers were excellent but I didn’t wake up like I anticipated. I was really glad that we had filled up with water yesterday afternoon. Continue reading
Off to the Grand Canyon from Zion
We eventually arose this morning. It was hot the last several days and we dip plenty of hiking in the heat. We had fun. Yesterday was definitely an improvement over the day before in Zion. Fewer people made for a much better experience. Breakfast was good. I opted for cereal while Bob & Louise had the waffles. I ate a blueberry thing and part of an English muffin. Something in one or two of the latter gave me an allergic reaction. All was OK, but the rest of the morning I was really dry. Was it the absolute lack of humidity or the baked good? We will never know. Continue reading
