After visiting Starbase at the very southern end of Padre Island, we decided to stop at one of our favorite places. It’s also on Padre Island, just South of Corpus Christi, Texas. We’ve both been here a few times, in great weather, and just ahead of an ice and snowstorm. This time, the weather was beautiful, and we managed to snag a spot at Malaquiet Campground located in the Padre Island National Seashore. We had time for three days and secured a spot with a clear view of the surf. There are no hookups, but we’ve gotten accustomed to the new RV, so staying was much easier than anticipated. The new RV is surprisingly energy efficient.
The scenery at the National Seashore is beautiful, there has been a lot of wind, but it’s a most excellent time. We took a number of walks on the beach and especially got a kick out of watching the Pelicans flying in formation. Most of the time, we were the only people on the beach, Coming from Long Island and New Jersry, being the only person on the beach within a half mile in either direction is quite an exciting experience.
We plan on heading off to OKC tomorrow. In the meantime, we’re soaking up the sun, enjoying the sound of the surfing, and just relaxing.
